The Name of the Wind also called “The Kingkiller Chronicle: Day One”, is a heroic fantasy novel written by American author Patrick Rothfuss. It is the first book in the ongoing fantasy trilogy (The Kingkiller Chronicle)followed by The Wise Man’s Fear. It was published on March 27. 2007 by DAW Books.
The 45 years old drew inspiration from the idea that he wanted a completely new kind of book that does not have the generic characteristics of fantasy. Prior to release, an excerpt from the novel was released as a short story titled “The Road to Levinshir”, which won the Writers of the Future contest in 2002. A sequel entitled (The Wise Man’s Fear) was released on 1st March 2011 by DAW Books.
