The Iowa Soccer Championship Series: State Cup and President’s Cup will relocate from Des Moines to TBK Bank Sports Complex in Bettendorf this weekend due to washed out fields.
“It was a short turn around we got the call on Tuesday that we would be hosting due to the poor weather across the state,” TBK Bank Sports Complex Leslie Van Dyke told Local 4 News. “But that’s why we built this building. It’s 77 acres all artificial turf soccer fields, baseball fields, everything so that’s really what we were built for and we are glad we are able to host on such short notice.”
Iowa Soccer and the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau is expecting 82 teams from across the state and around 2,000 players, coaches and families to visit the Quad Cities this weekend.
“Hopefully, this is the beginning of a long-term relationship between Iowa Soccer and the TBK Bank Sports Complex,” Director of Soccer Operations Paul Dayrell said in a news release.
Area hotels were able to accommodate the surge in visitors.
“We are confident that the association, the athletes and their respective families will be amazed by one of the most versatile sports and entertainment venue destinations in the Midwest,” QCCVB President and CEO Dave Herrell said.
