Yesterday, we reported that Taylor Swift took yet another jab at Katy Perry by mocking her rival’s famous "Left Shark" Super Bowl backup dancer during a concert in Massachusetts.
On its own, it was a fairly innocuous gag – but many are beginning to feel that Swift’s frequent attacks on Perry are beginning to cross the line into bullying.
Her obvious willingness to go nuclear against Perry is damaging enough to Swift’s image as Everybody’s Bestie, but this is far from the first time that Taylor has been accused of going full-Regina George on a female adversary.
Actress Camilla Belle began dating Taylor’s ex Joe Jonas back in 2008, and she still claims that Taylor went all-out in her attempts to destroy Belle’s career and reputation.
Now, male entertainers are getting in on the act, as Grizzly Bear singer Ed Droste has promised to eventually deliver a story that could serve as the nail in the coffin of Swift’s girl next door image.
Over the weekend, Droste tweeted a photo of a tabloid article about "Mean Girl Taylor" with a caption reading, "Obsessed that people are finally catching on."
Asked to clarify the comment, Droste tweeted:
"Ummmm she’s been given a free pass for too long. Plus, first hand experience…I have a whole other story to tell, still feels unsafe tho. She frightens me genuinely.”
This isn’t the first time that an artist has claimed to be frightened by Swift’s tremendous power.
Last year, DJ and producer Diplo feuded with Swift and backed down after explaining that he was genuinely afraid of Swift’s army of devoted fans.
Predictably, Droste is receiving a fair amount of backlash from steadfast Swifties, but he’s also enjoying the support of others who claim they’ve been unable to shake off their ugly encounters with America’s Sweetheart.
