John McEnroe has two siblings- Mark McEnroe and Patrick McEnroe. Mark followed in his father’s footsteps of two brothers, whereas the youngest McEnroe brother took inspiration from his oldest sibling.
Mark McEnroe
Mark McEnroe, 58, was born in 1964 and is the middle of the family. And like every middle child, he was the forgotten one at times. In his interview with New York Times in 1984, Mark said he didn’t mind being sandwiched between two-star tennis player brothers.
The tallest of the three, Mark graduated from Stanford and went to make a career in law like his father, though he certainly didn’t serve his country in the US Air Force. Whilst his brothers were busy winning trophies on the tennis court, he would write about their victories.
Mark’s mother always wished her son to become a lawyer as she said he had a lawyer’s head, and he did end up fulfilling her dreams.
Patrick McEnroe
Patrick McEnroe, the youngest of the siblings, was born on July 1, 1966. His father, in an interview, recalled that when Mark was born, and they brought him home, John said he didn’t like him.
But when Patrick was brought home, John immediately held him and said he loved him. Everybody loved Patrick since he was born, and he enjoyed the perks of being the youngest.
In the world of tennis, he did have a hard time making his name. At times, he would be known by his brother’s name. The brothers faced each other on one occasion, and his older brother beat him in the match.
Patrick is currently at the US Open with his wife Melissa Errico and is on his broadcasting duties with ESPN, and his brother is also present.
